Lauro Kitchen is a family-owned and operated neighborhood restaurant with a menu that highlights Chef David Machado's signature dishes. We serve unique, Mediterranean-inspired fare – for example, Crispy Calamari with Portuguese Piri Piri Sauce or Goat Cheese Stuffed Chicken Breast with Quince Sauce. Classic dishes are given a Mediterranean twist, like the Lauro Cheeseburger served with Pomme Frites and Aioli or Pork and Clams with Roasted Peppers and Potatoes.
We are closed on all major holidays
David is a rare restaurant industry professional: He is both a nationally recognized chef and an accomplished general manager. His 20-year career includes experience as executive chef, vice-president of restaurant operations, cooking and management instructor, and community leader.
Although Jennifer has been cooking since she was a child in Independence, Missouri, she didn't make her way to culinary school until after a detour selling computers and a short stint in the catering business. After graduating from Western Culinary Institute in Portland, she jetted through an internship and sous chef position before landing at Lauro.
Here's just a few things that we love about Lauro's new general manager, Portland native Julie Chambers: She can manage a packed-to-overflow dining room. She can sooth the wait staff on a rough night. She knows which wine goes with the seafood special. She knows how to keep the front of the house happy and satisfied. And that's just the beginning.
The open and airy 2,400 square foot space features large windows that look onto Division and 34th streets as well as high, vaulted ceilings and exposed wooden beams. The floor plan features an open kitchen with a gas-fired pizza oven tiled with cobalt blue Ann Sachs tiles as the focal point of the space.
